SpaceX’s own S-1 for the ~$2T June 2026 IPO warned that a debris-generating collision could cascade until some orbital altitudes become unusable — Kessler syndrome, the 1978 NASA paper. Closing speeds run 7–8 km/s: a 1 cm fragment hits like a hand grenade, and ~10,000 of the ~16,000 working satellites overhead are already Starlink. The crash clock — time to first collision if nobody dodges — collapsed from 164 days in 2018 to 2.5 days by May 2026, held together by ~300,000 Starlink avoidance burns in 2025. I walk through solar storms, dead sats, ASAT tests, and why a million orbital-compute satellites plus Blue Origin’s Project Sunrise make the same crowded 500–1,000 km shell the biggest unpriced risk in the space economy.

On June 17, 2026, five days after SpaceX started trading, Elon exercised ~304 million 2018 CEO options at $23, lifting Tesla voting power from ~13% to ~20% (~700 million shares) and selling 17 million shares for ~$7B to cover strike and tax. The November 2025 pay package walks him toward ~25% control against SpaceX’s ~82–85% super-vote.
